About Leaders Unbound

Why we built this - and who we are

The story behind Leaders Unbound, and the people who founded it.

A large flock of starlings acting as a metaphor for leaders unleashing their potential.

The founding story

Leaders Unbound began with a frustration that both of us had carried for years.

Working at the highest levels of the coaching and leadership development industry, we saw - repeatedly - what transformational coaching could do for leaders and organisations. The clarity it created. The decisions it unlocked and the teams it transformed. It could build enormous confidence and purpose in people who had been carrying too much for too long.

We also saw who was getting access to it.

The most established firms, with the deepest methodologies, experienced practitioners, and rigorous quality standards were largely serving the world’s biggest organisations - the Fortune 500, the FTSE 100, and global corporations with the budgets and procurement teams to match. Ambitious organisations with 100 to 2,000 people - growing businesses, founder-led organisations, scale-ups preparing for their next stage - were often left choosing between expensive and inaccessible on one side, and generic and transactional on the other.

Technology platforms have helped widen access, but access alone is not the same as impact. Great coaching depends on the quality of the relationship, the fit between coach and leader, and an intervention shaped around the challenge at hand. It requires partnership, judgement and genuine understanding - not simply a larger pool of coaches.

Leaders Unbound exists to close that gap. Not as a scaled-down version of what the largest firms offer, but as something built from the ground up for the organisations that want exceptional coaching and leadership development without the barriers that have traditionally stood in the way.

The people behind Leaders Unbound

Ben Slight, Co-founder, Leaders Unbound

BEN SLIGHT - Co-Founder and Client Director

Ben has spent two decades exploring coaching, leadership development, and the intellectual life of the field. His career has taken him through senior roles at Performance Consultants International, where he operated at the senior stakeholder and business development end of complex global leadership programmes including at Allianz, Collins Aerospace, Nike, Shell, and Louis Vuitton – alongside a number of fast growing PE backed firms.

Ben also works in the publishing world, where he has shaped the strategy behind some of the most influential books in the coaching field - including Coaching for Performance by Sir John Whitmore, widely regarded as the founding text of workplace coaching. He continues to consult on strategy and publisher relations with a select number of thought-leaders.

Ben is certified through the Coaching for Performance: Coaching Certification Pathway and has been fortunate to learn directly from Tim Gallwey, the originator of the Inner Game methodology. He is also a black belt practitioner and trainee instructor in Jeet Kune Do - Bruce Lee's martial art - which he observes shares many of its routes and influences with coaching.

At Leaders Unbound, Ben leads client relationships and business development. If you are exploring what we might do for your organisation, he is the person you will speak to first - and the person who remains responsible for that relationship throughout.

Tamsin Langrishe, Co-founder, Leaders Unbound

TAMSIN LANGRISHE Co-Founder and Programme Director

Tamsin is a practising Executive Coach and GBA Facilitator of Transformation who “grew up” with the pioneers of the industry: Sir John Whitmore, Tim Gallwey and Gita Bellin. She believes that, in a world of increasing complexity and uncertainty, it’s more important than ever to support leaders to lead with greater self-awareness, presence and humanity.

Over 18 years at Performance Consultants International, she was the person responsible for vetting, onboarding, and coordinating the global associate network - assessing and managing over 250 coaches and facilitators across more than 20 languages, designing the systems that ensured quality and consistency across complex multi-country programmes. She knows what excellent looks like in a coaching room and in a boardroom, and she has spent years building the relationships and processes that ensure the right practitioner reaches the right client.

At Leaders Unbound, she combines coaching, facilitation and operational expertise to ensure that great coaching and leadership development are delivered with the same care and quality behind the scenes as they are in the room.

What we believe

We believe that leadership potential is more widely distributed than this industry has ever properly acknowledged.

We believe that the quality of a coaching relationship depends on the quality of the coach - and that the quality of the coach cannot be reliably determined by credentials alone. It requires judgement, formed by direct experience. That is what we bring to every match we make.

We believe that the best coaching is not about adding to what a leader knows. Drawing on Tim Gallwey’s Inner Game principle that performance equals potential minus interference, we believe the coach's job is to create the conditions in which a leader’s potential can emerge. Less noise. More clarity. Fewer constraints on what is already there.

We believe that genuine accountability matters. From the first conversation to the final session, Ben and Tamsin remain personally accountable for every engagement Leaders Unbound takes on. We do not delegate that responsibility to a coordinator or account manager. It stays with us.

And we believe that exceptional coaching and leadership development should be accessible to ambitious organisations, not just. the largest companies on earth.

Our network

The coaches and facilitators we work with share these beliefs. Every practitioner in the Leaders Unbound network has been personally assessed - not just credentialled and approved, but seen in practice, understood as people, and trusted with the organisations we care about.
